Rai’s Jana-Mana on welfare schemes brings the govt bouquets

Mangaluru: The District in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai participated in a Jana-Mana programme wherein he interacted with the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes of the government in Mangaluru on September 15.

The Minister took feedback from the participants with an aim to improve the welfare schemes. A large number of participants joined the initiative and discussed the schemes they were benefiting from, like Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya, Manaswini, Bidayi, Ksheeradhare, Runamukta, Vidyasiri, Ksheers Dhara, Mathsay Shraya, Maitiri, Rajeev Arogya Bhagya, Yashashwini and Vasathi.

Discussing the Anna Bhagya scheme a person from Mangaluru, stated that his family has been immensely benefiting from the scheme however there are people who come in a car and take the ration on their respective cards and then go sell it to a local vendor, He told Rai that the government is working for the welfare of the poor and such instances must be avoided.

Another woman named Shashikala from Someshwar Panchayat said that earlier her family received Rice, Sugar and other grains in greater quantity. However, she said it had now been reduced. Her question went unanswered, it was not clear whether by design or oversight.

Many  other participants lauded the Anna Bhagaya initiative, to which Rai proudly noted that Karnataka is the only State where no citizen is without food. He said, “CM Siddharamiah started the scheme with the aim that no person should go without food and experience starvation, it is a government for the poor.”

College and law students from around the district raised the issue of the VidyaSiri Yojane. A girl from Alva’s College addressing Rai said that, she received Rs 15000 for a year from the government, while this may seem a small sum for a rich person, it has enabled her to have the education she aspired for. A law student said the money under the scheme had helped him buy costly law books and thanked the government for their assistance.

Speaking about the  Rajeev Arogaya Yogana, a person from Mangaluru thanked Rai and said that for his heart operation the government had provided him money. He requested  the government to help people with kidney dialysis, too. The Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader immediately responded and said that the government had already made provisions and these will be applied shortly.

Sports and Youth Empowerment Minister K. Abhayachandra Jain, Various departments implementing the welfare schemes along with the officials of the district administration and others participated in the programme.
