Bantwal: An accused in the rape case of an Endosulfan victim has been arrested by the Vittal police within a day of the crime taking place, it has been reported.
The arrested is identified as Rajesh Rai (25) from Kadambila in Peruvai village.
On Thursday, the accused had entered the house of the victim and raped her and thereafter was absconding. A case was registered at Vittal police station in this regard.
Police who began probing the case were successful in nabbing the accused. The accused is a daily wage worker in Thokkottu. On credible information that the accused is in Thokkottu, Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar and Bantwal circle inspector Belliyappa arrested him with the guidance of district additional SP Vincent Shanthakumar.
Vittal SI Prakash Devadiga, staff Janardhan, Praveen Rai, Rakshith Rai, Bhavith were part of the operation.
The accused has been produced in court and has been sent to jail.
The crime took place in Peruvai village, where Rajesh sexually assaulted a 19-year-old endosulfan victim.
