Mangaluru: Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa will inaugurate the renovated dialysis ward of the Wenlock hospital in the city on August 12.
Medical Superintendent of the Hospital H.R. Rajeshwari Devi addressing reporters said that Karnataka Bank donated Rs 14.5 lakh for the renovation of the dialysis ward on the second floor of the hospital. Eight new dialysis units for this renovated ward have been provided by the State government and the Round Table organization has provided one dialysis unit.
The renovated ward had already started functioning from last three months even though there was no formal inauguration. As many as 429 patients have undergone treatment here in the last seven months.
On the day of the inaugural, the Speaker will be participating in the workshop on the “Role of elected representatives in building a healthy society ” and Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader will interact with 20 patients who have undergone peritoneal dialysis at the Wenlock Hospital.
