Revoke Demonetisation or Face the Consequences: Poojary to Modi

Mangaluru: The demonetisation of higher denomination currency notes effected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has indeed caused inconvenience to the general public though it was for a greater good. Former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary in his address to the media said that the implementation of demonetisation could have been better executed by the Government.

Speaking for the “people who had to compromise on their time and effort”, Poojary said, “The prime minister should revoke his decision on demonetisation since it has caused great inconvenience to the citizens of India. The ones who are badly hit are those from the weaker sections of the society. If this move is not rolled back by Narendra Modi government, serious repercussions await his political career.”

Sharing his idea on the “effective implementation” of this move, Poojary mentioned that the execution of demonetisation could have been better if the banks had enough supply of currency notes. “There were absolutely no measures taken by the government to ensure enough supply of currency notes for exchange. This made the ATMs go dry leaving the small time business persons and daily wage laborers in tatters. The major troubles being faced by the people can be put to an end if Modi calls back this move”, he said.

“Instead of executing demonetisation to catch black money hoarders, he could have used Sections 276A and 276B of the Income Tax Act. In his address to the people in Goa, he shed tears ostensibly citing the problems faced by the commoners. But in fact, he was shedding tears for the rich corporate companies like Tata and Adani”, Poojary alleged.

Also pointing out the problems faced by foreign visitors to India, Poojary said that demonetisation has completely wrecked currency conversion and the foreigners are taking a heavy blow. “The image of India in the eyes of the visitors has been ravaged due to the sudden ban on notes of higher denominations”, he added.

‘CM is Flirting with Trouble by Ignoring Tanveer Sait’s Porn Scandal’

After expressing his thoughts on demonetisation, Poojary spoke about the dangers that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will face if Tanveer Sait is not sacked from the cabinet for browsing porn pictures at Tipu Jayanti public event. “The CM will be putting himself and his career into jeopardy if he does not accept Tanveer’s resignation”, Poojary warned.
