Mangaluru: Vaman Poojary(68), a key witness in the Moodbidri right wing activist murder case, was found dead at his daughter’s house on Thursday, October 15.
Vaman Poojary, a tender coconut merchant, had a shop adjacent to the right wing activist’s shop. According to reports, Vaman, who was present at the time of the crime on October 9, was said to be prime witness in the case.
After the murder took place, he did not talk to anyone and was said to be depressed. After the incident, the police had repeatedly visited his house for questioning. However, a week after the murder on Thursday, Vaman disappeared from his house and locals were out searching for him.
Worried over his disappearance, the aggreived family members informed the police immediately suspecting that he might have been kidnapped.
However, in the evening, his body was found hanging in a shed at his daughter’s residence near Swaraj Maidan in Moodbdiri.
A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station. Police are looking into whether Vaman was facing any threat to his life.
Prashant Poojary, a right wing activist cum flower vendor in Moodbidri, was hacked to death by an unidentified group last week.
