Kasargod: It was only four-years-ago that the residents of Kayyar (Parambala)-Jodukallu had beamed a smile as the road connectivity between these places was given a new lease of life.
However, with the bituminous surface laid four-years-ago at the cost of Rs 1.6 crore having vanished exposing the grit stones underneath, the people have no option but to go on bumpy rides everyday.
With this, people travelling in Permude, Bandyodu, Uppala, Bayar and nearby areas say that they do not feel like going out because of the road that they have to travel on. The situation will turn worse with the onset of monsoon, they fear.
It was in 2011 that Manjeshwar MLA P B Abdul Razakk released the amount required for the upgrade of the road under MLA’s funds, but the road could not withstand the monsoon the very same year, reflecting the sub standard work that was executed. The following year the road was given a touch up, but now it has come back to being what it was.
