Mangaluru: Hours after massive protests were taken out in Bantwal against the attack on RSS leader Sharath, Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, a prominent RSS leader from Dakshina Kannada received a death threat through social website, Facebook on Friday, July 7.

Prabhakar Bhat was also seen participating in the protest at Bantwal despite the prohibitory orders alongwith other BJP leaders – Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje, Sunil Kumar and members of various Hindu organisations.

The death threat has been attributed to a group called as ‘Mangalore Muslims’ on Facebook. The post reads, “Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat is a terrorist. If he dies, will you honour him with Tri-colour flag or Saffron flag? Today is his last day… decide, (Sic)”

The post, which was deleted later, few believe, was done to further fuel the tension in Bantwal.

Soon after the post gained attention it was learnt that RSS worker Sharath who was struggling for life had succumbed to his wounds.

Dakshina Kannada region, especially Bantwal has been witnessing a lot of communal turmoil recently with several murder, stabbing cases being reported from the area. Despite the prohibitory orders as well as the tight police vigil the situation in the region has not returned to normalcy.

Prabhakar Bhat however remained undeterred by the post and said that such threats were not new to him and also hinted that there may be severe repercussions if anyone tried to kill him. He asked the district police to act against those who are fuelling tensions by such kind of provocative posts.
