SAC’s Sahodaya to conduct state-level Sports and Cultural fest for specially-abled

Mangaluru: As a part of KANASU – 2019 Disability Awareness Month December 2019, St. Aloysius College’s Sahodaya, an outreach organization of College established for the empowerment of the Specially Abled has planned to conduct a state-level Sports and Cultural fest for specially-abled children on December 20, 2019, at the St. Aloysius Centenary Ground, St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

Eight (08) Schools from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada will take part in the fest and St Aloysius College will witness the skills and talents of approximately 180- 200 Special Children during the event. The fest includes competitions like Pot Painting. Cinematic Dance, Group Singing, Yoga, Creative March-Past, Shot Put, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, and 4X100 meters Relay.

Each participating school will receive a sum of Rs 15,000/- as Honorarium and Travel Expenses, Overall winners will receive Rs 6000/- as cash prize and a Trophy, Overall runners will receive Rs 4000/-as cash prize and a Trophy. A Trophy and a Certificate will be awarded for the first two places in each event.

The grand inauguration will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019, at 09:30 AM at the St Aloysius College Centenary Ground. Smt. Gladys Pais – International Athlete Mangaluru will be the Chief Guest. Dr. Alwyn D’Sa – Controller of Examination, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) will be the Guest of Honour. Rev Dr. Praveen Martis SJ Principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will be the President of the Inaugural Ceremony.

The Valedictory of Kanasu will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019, at 03:30 PM in the Arrupe Hall 803 of St Aloysius College. Dr A. M. Narahari – Registrar, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will be the Chief Guest. Mr. Ashok Prasad – Coordinator of EC/CC, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will be the guest of honor. Rev. Fr Vincent Pinto SJ – Finance Officer St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru will be President of the Valedictory.

Sahodaya, an outreach programme for the empowerment of the Specially Abled was started in 2000 to conscientize the staff and the students towards the needs and aspirations of the Differently Abled. The outreach programme has been constantly working with groups and institutions catering to the needs of such people. The Sahodayans have imbibed the spirit of growing together and lend their mite towards empowering people with disabilities even after completion of their studies.
