Sahyadri College selected as a regional center for Olympiad Exam

Mangaluru: Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management has been selected as the Statistics Olympiad Center for the Mangaluru Region. The Olympiad is conducted with a view to spotting Statistical talent at an early stage.

The C.R. Rao AIMSCS will be conducting, at the center,  the  12th statistics Olympiad 2020, a talent search competition for those students of High Schools and Colleges in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Sri Lanka with an aptitude for numbers and data handling.

The competition will be in the form of a written examination of three hours duration. It will be held on Sunday the 19th January, 2020 between 10:00 A.M to 01:00 P.M in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupathi, Guntur, Kurnool, Kakinada, Warangal, Khammam, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Dlehi, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Mangalore and Sri Lanka Centres.

Eligibility: Applicant must have secured grade A or = 70% marks in Mathematics in the previous academic year (2018-19) in any board examination. The competition is conducted at Two Levels:

  1.  Junior Level: Students who are presently studying Class IX and X (2019-20). 
  2. Senior Level: Students who are presently studying Class XI, XII and Degree or Engineering 1st year (2019-20).

The Registration fee is Rs.100/- (Hundred rupees only) while the last date for registration: 31st December 2019. More details are available at http://www.crraoaimscs.org/ 

At each level, the top 3 students will be given C R Rao and C. Bhargavi Rao Prizes of Rs.15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.7,000on 29-06-2020 during 12th Statistics Day celebrations at CR Rao AIMSCS, Hyderabad. Also, top performers up to 15 students at each level will be awarded merit certificates during the same function. Last year from the Mangalore region at the Eleventh statistics Olympiad 2019, Elma Elza Thomas from St Aloysius college secured the 6th rank pan India.
