Mangaluru: To commemorate the South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank President M N Rajendra Kumar completing 25 years in the post, a silver jubilee programme has been organised at the Nehru Maidan on January 19, 2019.
SCDCC Bank Director Rajaram Bhat told reporters that it is the first time in the history of co-operative banking in India that a person is leading a bank as the chairman for 25 years. Bhat also informed that those in the cooperative sector from erstwhile Dakshina Kannada district have decided to celebrate this historic occasion with a grand bash at Nehru Maidan.
Informing about the other programmes on the occasion, Bhat said that a national level seminar on the cooperative sector will be held on January 18 as a precursor to the main event. Cooperative movement leaders from across India will participate in this seminar and discuss the sector’s issues of importance, he said.
Chairman of the felicitation committee Deviprasad Shetty said that a permanent cooperative museum will be set up to mark the occasion. The museum will capture various facets of the movement starting from Molahalli Shivarao to the present day, Shetty added.
