SDM PG Centre and ISTD Mangalore Udupi Chapter sign MOU

MangaluruSDM College of Business Management Post Graduate Centre for Management Studies and Research, Mangalore and the Indian Society for Training and Development, Mangalore / Udupi Chapter, today entered into an MOU to synergise their mutual strengths of education and training respectively. 

The MOU was signed by the Director, SDM PG Center, Dr Seema Shenoy, and Dr Malini Hebbar, Secretary of ISTD in the presence of the faculty of the SDM PG Centre and the Vice-Chairperson of ISTD Mangalore Udupi Chapter, Brian Fernandes and Managing Committee Member, Peter Anthony Pinto. 

The objectives of the MOU include having mutually beneficial collaborations, organizing/assisting in conducting staff/student enrichment programmes, conferences, seminars, workshops, lectures, meetings, or other programs, organizing need-based HRD Training programmes and encouraging a student ISTD chapter on campus.

SDM College of Business Management Post Graduate Centre for Management Studies and Research Mangaluru is the brainchild of Padmavibhushan Dr D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala which is one of south India’s most renowned religious landmarks with a history over 800 years. 

It is with the primary objective of making education affordable and accessible that the SDME Society was established to head 56 educational institutions ranging from primary education to post-graduation in fields of management, dental science, law, medical sciences, and naturopathy, Ayurveda, physiotherapy, and engineering.  Having been in the service of offering quality management education for over three decades SDM College of Business Management started an MBA in 2007 affiliated with Mangalore University and recognized by AICTE. 

In 2013, the institute reconstituted itself as a separate entity with a total strength of 240 students and 25 employees and marked many milestones through its consistently innovative initiatives and foreign university tie-ups. 

Located in the heart of Mangalore City, the institute boasts of state-of-the-art infrastructure and envisions creating globally acceptable business leaders. Faculty with rich academic & research experience has facilitated students of the institution to fare brilliantly in academics and extra-circular activities including fields of research, entrepreneurship,  politics, media, and business.  The consistent record of students in securing Mangalore University ranks and gold medals has made the institution stand tall among other institutes in this coastal city.

About ISTD

Established in April 1970, ISTD is a national-level professional body and non-profit society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It has a large membership of individuals and institutions involved in the area of training and development of human esources from Government, Public and Private Sector organizations & Enterprises, Educational and Training Institutions and other Professional Bodies. ISTD provides a platform for HR personnel, trainers, and educationists to upskill, network and seek professional opportunities.

Its vision is to lead Transformation through Training & Development while its mission is twofold: To facilitate individuals and organizations to excel in Training & Development activities and to serve as a reservoir of universal knowledge of human Interface through Innovative practices and original exploratory research.

The Society is affiliated to the International Federation of Training and Development Organizations (IFTDO), USA and Asian Regional Training and Development Organizations (ARTDO), Manila.

ISTD organizes training programs all over the country both at the Chapter and National Levels. The programs cover selected areas of HRD with special emphasis on Training of Trainers, Training Goals & Objectives, and Training Tools & Technologies. A large number of public and private sector organizations and training Institutions of Central and State governments participate in these programs, some of which have been held in collaboration with the Planning Commission, Bureau of Public Enterprises and the Training Division of the Department of Personnel, Government of India.

The Society publishes a Quarterly Journal, “Indian Journal of Training and Development” and provides a Diploma in Training and Development (Dip TD), through a distance learning programme of 18 months duration, to meet the long felt need for skill formation in learning/training skills.  This diploma is recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development for recruitment to superior posts and is approved by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Govt. of India under its Faculty Development Scheme.
