Mangaluru: Mangala Alumni Association(MAA) in collaboration with MAPS College, Mangaluru has organised a one-day workshop on ‘Art of student counselling for teachers’ at MAPS College here on Saturday, September 8.

Registrar of Mangalore University Professor A M Khan inaugurated the workshop.

Addressing the gathering, Professor A M Khan said, “The behaviour and attitude of present students is totally different when compared to their past counterparts. The behaviour and attitude of the present students has become dynamic and has not remained static.”

“In the contemporary scenario, the students have lost the real fun. Nowadays. the students have lost the enjoyment in laughter. The smile that appears on their face has become artificial. It may be due to the growing technology which has played a major role in distracting the students. Hence it is the role of a teacher to recognise the behaviour of the students and channelise it,” A M Khan added.

“Teachers along with concentrating on sharing knowledge with students, should also counsel the students and make them ideal citizens of the country. The society needs good teachers. Teachers should strive to bring back the smile on the faces of the students.”

Faculty of Psychological Medicine University of Sultan Zainal Abidin Association Professor Dr. Vidhya Bhagat shared her enormous experience in counselling the students in the keynote address.

Dinesh Kumar Alva, President of Mangala Alumni Association presided over the programme.

Dr. Devi Prabha Alva, Vice President of MAA, Dr. Ganesh Sanjiv, General Secretary of MAA, Shruthi Shetty, Principal of MAPS College and others were present in the programme.
