Mangaluru: The road connectivity between coastal district and state capital is going to be affected as the authorities have decided to close down Shiradi Ghat from October 15 to take up road repair works on the pending stretch of 8.5 kms.
With this, the road is expected to remain completely shut for traffic till June next year, that is for a period of eight months.
As per sources, GVR Infrastructure will take up this II phase of road work at a cost of Rs 89 cr. The first phase of road work was completed two years ago, during which the complete ban on vehicular movement had caused great inconvenience to commuters. This apart, development work of the 21 km tar road starting from Addahole will also be undertaken.
