Mangaluru: ABVP members protested in front of St Aloysius College after a student from the college hanged himself to death in the college hostel on Thursday, October 1.
The deceased has been identified as Noel Mendonca, son of Wally and Irene Mendonca. According to the reports, Noel committed suicide by hanging in his room late night on Wednesday, September 30.
The members of ABVP protested, demanding an investigation into the case and the arrest of the assistant supervisor, alleging him to be the reason behind the extreme step taken by Noel.
Reportedly, the incident came to light on Thursday, when other hostel inmates knocked on his door and got no response. They informed the warden, who then looked in through the ventilator window and saw Noel hanging.
The protestors alleged that harassment by hostel’s assistant supervisor drove Noel to take the extreme step. The ABVP activists said that they tried calling the assistant supervisor but his phone was switched off. However, the management has reportedly said that a personal issue may have been behind Noel’s suicide.
