St Anthony’s Ashram’s new 100-bed home for mentally ill to be inaugurated on Nov 21

Mangaluru: The newly constructed 100-bed home for the mentally ill of St Anthony’s Ashram in Jeppu, will be inaugurated and blessed on November 21. The project was taken up to mark 120 years of its service to the poor.

Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore will inaugurate and bless the home that has been named ‘Our Lady of Miracles (Milagres) Home’ as the origin of the Ashram took place at Milagres Church on June 12, 1898.

The home is intended to accommodate 50 men and 50 women.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath and U T Khader, Chairman of the Christian Development Board, Government of Karnataka, Joylus D’Souza, former MLA J R Lobo, and former MLC Ivan D’Souza will be the chief guests.

Former Mayor and local Corporator Jacintha Alfred, Asst Director, Department of Tourism, DK, Somshekar, and local Corporator Bharath S will be the guests of honour.
