Mangaluru: As per the Supreme Court’s orders to implement the Street Vendors Policy, the Union Ministry of Law and Justice of India passed the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, and the Karnataka Government issued the Karnataka Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Rules 2020.
Under the “Deen Dayal Antyodyaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Campaign,” Support to Urban Street Vendors (SUSV) was also formed. Within the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits, Street Vendors’ Survey programmes have been organised according to SUSV guidelines. During the survey, street vendors within the MCC limits will receive identity cards and trade licenses for street vending from September 19 to September 30, 2021.
According to the press release, all street vendors are required to produce their Ration Card, Voter ID, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Bank Pass Book, and documents of registration with the Street Vendors Organisation during the survey. Original and photocopies of the Covid – 19 Vaccination Certificate, as well as the QR Code generated for the Digital Transaction, a mobile number linked to an Aadhar Card, a photograph of the place where the trade is taking place, and their passport size photographs should be submitted.
All street vendors are required to pay a registration fee of Rs. 50/- and receive a receipt from the surveyor.
