A case was registered against the accused for assaulting the student, but the students said that since the incident had occurred on the college campus, the college management must file a separate case against the accused.

When the demand of the students was brushed aside, the raged students refused to attend classes and remained outside the campus.

Bantwal Town police arrived at the college and discussed the matter with the authorities and the students. When the principal persistently refused to budge down to the demand of the students, Bantwal town police inspector Nandakumar suggested to the college authorities to accept the students’ demand.

Journalists on duty disrupted

When the media persons went to cover the matter, principal H S Fernandes and other lecturers disrupted them. When the media persons started clicking photos of protesting students too, the college authorities stopped them from doing so. They also checked ID cards of the media persons and one ID belonging to one of the media person was confiscated.
As the media persons brought this matter to the police, students too supported the journalists and later the ID was returned to the media person by the lecturer.
