Kasargod: In a tragic incident, a teenager ended his life by jumping off a mobile tower at Vidyagiri near Badiyadka.
The deceased is 16-year-old Manoj, son of Seetharama, a cookie worker living at Bapumoole here.
The family had been living a difficult life as Manoj’s mother Leelavathi is an endo victim confined to bed over the last several years.
The locals say that Manoj was dejected by his unchanging reality and this may have driven him to resort to this extreme step.
Manoj had ventured out of the house late on Wednesday evening and never returned. When his father and neighbours launched a search, his dead body was found under a mobile tower, just a little distance away from his house.
He could not be saved despite being rushed to a nearby hospital. Manoj had completed his SSLC studies and since he could not get a seat for PUC he discontinued his studies.
The financial condition of the family was deteriorating and Manoj is said to have spoken about his mother’s plight to his friends. Badiyadka police has registered the case.
