Mangaluru: As the Thokkottu stretch National Highway 66 continues to be a nightmare for motorists, DYFI stepped up their protest against the negligence of authorities.“MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has taken commission from contractors in Thokkottu flyover construction works so he is not bothered to inspect the ongoing works even though it is being delayed”, blamed DYFI Ullal block secretary Jeevan Raj Kuttar here on Tuesday September 29.
Speaking at a protest rally held against the delay in flyover works he urged to put an end to the traffic jam in Thokkottu and finish national highway 66 road works at the earliest.
The poor condition of the road has been causing accidents besides frequent traffic blocks. People are suffering due to flyover work which is carried on in unscientifically. Students and workers do not reach thier destination on time due to traffic jam. In the evening girls, even though they leave city after work, they reach home late, at around 8pm.
“Nalin Kumar could inspect Shirady road works but he has no time to visit Thokkottu. We do not have any idea as to on what basis he has won No. 1 MP honour. He has taken huge amount of commission from the contractors but is least bothered to initiate works. The speed of work has slowed down. If they fail to take an action then we would intensify protest”, they warned.
Ullal block president Ashok Shetty Chembugudde, Rafeef Harekala, Sunil Tevula, Bharath Kutthar, SFI district president Nithin Kutthar, Jayanth Naik, Mahabala T Deppelimar, Janardhan Kutthar, Ibrahim Amblamogeru, Harish Kallapu and many others were present.
