Town Hall works inspected, to be complete by Oct. end

Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim, Mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred, and Mangaluru City North MLA B.A. Mohiuddin Bava visited the Town Hall to inspect the renovation works on Monday 14th September. N. Shiva Shankar Swami, Deputy Commissioner (Development) told the media after the inspection that the hall would be ready by October end. It would have push back seats compared to the fixed seats earlier and the seating capacity would come down from 1008 to 900.

Mr. Swami said that the Nirmiti Kendra would complete its works by October 15. He said that estimation on asphalting the parking areas of the hall and for lawn works was being prepared now and would be taken up after approval. The renovation would cost Rs. 3.5 crores, he added.

Srinivas, the representative of a company which is doing the sound and panelling work, said that there would be no need use standing mikes on stagand this facility would be useful for cultural programs.

The DC A. B. Ibrahim, who was present, said that the proposal of the State government seeking Rs. 14 crore for building a ‘ranga mandira’ at Bondel here has been pending with the Union government for about seven months. He told presspersons that the State government had proposed to contribute Rs. 10 crore for the ‘ranga mandira’ for which about seven acres was available.
