Kasaragod: Two elderly persons died while five others of the same family sustained injuries in an accident that took place near Hosangady, Manjeshwar on Sunday, November 15.
The deceased are identified as Umesh Mayya (70) and his wife Sharada (65), residents of Bandiyod.
According to sources, seven of a family were travelling in a Maruti Suzuki Alto from Mangaluru to Bandiyod. When they reached the Hosangady check-post, the driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into a parked tanker from behind.
The injured namely as Shobha, Chidananda, Parvati, Sangeeta and Manvita were admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.
Manjeshwar police have registered a case.
