Ullal: The brutal murder of a BJP cadre at Mukkacheri in Ullal on October 4 has been taking several twists with BJP leader Rahim Uchil initially alleging Congress hand in the same. A complaint was filed against Uchil in the Ullal police station in this regard.

According to reports the BJP has alleged that Zubair was targeted by members of a drug mafia here since its members had been arrested post a police complaint by Zubair. Further they demanded resignation of Khader on moral grounds alleging that the murder was carried out by aides of Ilyas, a youth Congress worker, who is also a close confidante of the minister as was overheard in the CCTV footage gathered from a local mosque.

Meanwhile, several people led by the local BJP unit here staged a protest outside the Ullal police station on Thursday demanding arrest of Zubair’s perpetrators.

Preliminary investigations by the police however indicate the involvement of a Altaf, a member of ‘target gang’, who suspected that Zubair was instrumental in the cops invoking a Goonda Act against him. The target gang used to blackmail the rich people by taking their pictures in compromising position.

According to the police aides of Altaf are believed to have carried out the attack on Zubair on that fateful night which had injured Zubair’s companion, Ilyas too. Sohail, a history sheeter is another suspect in the case, said police sources adding that the murder had nothing to do with his political affiliation.
