Mangaluru: A meet of vendors was held at Mangaluru City Corporation on Sunday July 18 under the leadership of Mayor Premanand Shetty and MLA Vedavyas Kamath to discuss the shifting of market in Urwa.
The meeting was called to allay fears and confusion among the vendors with regard to shifting of Urwa market to the new market area. The MLA and the Mayor have already agreed to the demands of the vendors submitted, earlier.
At the meet, the vendors have agreed to the deposit and rent fixed by the corporation. It was decided to shift the vendors dealing in vegetable, fruits, fish, meat, groceries and such other items to the new market area. Further, it was decided that the already existing vendors would be given preference and provided with government fixed minimum deposit and rent.
At the meet, the officers were asked to take steps for shifting of the market area as soon as possible.
