Mangaluru: An insult hurled at Pejavara Matt Swamiji Sri Vishwesha Theertha saying that his mind should be cleaned led the Vishwa Hindu Parishath (VHP) and Bajrang Dal to put their foot down in support of Pejavara Swamiji. A press meet was called by Prof. M B Puranik, the President of VHP at their office on Saturday, October 15 to speak in defense of the Swamiji.
“Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji is highly revered and respected for his social reforms. He can be called as one of the real spiritual leader of our country. The Bajrang Dal and VHP strongly condemn the insult hurled against Pejavara Swamiji”, Prof. Puranik said.
He went on to say that even Muslims have held Swamiji with high respects since he was pro-equality and he wanted everyone to be treated equally. “Pejavara Swamiji does not have anything against the dalits as well. Dalits too hold him with reverence. One particular group which can not take the fact that Swamiji calls for unity among all people want to defame him. The group may try to divide the community but they can never succeed”, he said.
The person who insulted Pejavara Swamiji must apologize for his rude comment which had no base. “In order to avoid division of the communities, the government must step in and take action”, Prof. Puranik added.
Bajrang Dal convener Sharan Pumpwell, Secretary of VHP Krishna Murthy and members Dinesh Pai, Vasudeva Gowda and Shivanand Mendon were present at the press meet.
