Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), DK region has raised objections against the demand of Noorul Islam Madrasa and Moideen Juma Masjid to provide few cents of land out of the crematorium land for burial.
Condemning their request VHP staged a protest on Sunday October 11 and held a rally from Attavar to Nandigudda crematorium. They agitated stating that the mosque has asked the district administration to provide 26 cents out of the 2.58 acres of the crematorium land for use as burial ground for the Muslim community.
VHP district president Jagadish Shenava speaking to the protestors said that minority communities do not allow us to live peacefully. Wherever the number of minorities is more, there are conflicts.
He further warned the district representatives including MLA’s Mohiuddin Bava, J R Lobo, ministers U T Khader and Ramanath Rai saying that if the representatives favour the mosque, a bigger agitation will be held.
VHP district joint secretary Shivanand Mendon, Chief Secretary of district VHP Jitendra Kottari and President of Nandigudda Crematorium Committee Vasanth Shetty also spoke during the protest.
