Mangaluru: In order to create awareness among the youth to conserve wildlife in every way possible, Pilikula Biological Park conducted various competitions as a part of celebrating World Wildlife Week. More than 150 participants from Udupi and Mangaluru took part in the string of events held on October 9.
Drawing, essay writing, collage making, quiz and fancy dress competitions were conducted for children from 8 – 15 years of age and a photography competition was conducted for college students and shutter bugs with varied professions.
“It was enthralling to see the young participants express their views on wildlife conservation through these competitions. We observe and celebrate wildlife week every year at the biological park. Main focus is to induce love for animals and conservation of wildlife in children and youth”, said H J Bhandary, Executive Director of Pilikula Nisarga Dhama.
Kotiprasad Alva, Ganesh Somayaji, Anantha Padmanabha and Kamal were the ones who helped in organizing the various competitions. After having great feedback from participants over the years, H J Bhandary plans on having more such events in the coming days.
