Mangaluru: Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) took out a protest march towards the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Tuesday December 21 demanding a permanent solution for quarrying and mining activities in and around Karinjeshwar temple, Bantwal of Dakshina Kannada District.

The protestors said that despite a month-long deadline was given to stop the quarrying and mining activities when a protest was held in Bantwal last, the District Administration has failed to respond to the demands. Due to this inaction of the District Administration, we were forced to hold this protest, they stressed.

“The use of explosives in quarrying and mining activities have been threatening to the temple structure in a severe manner. However, the departments concerned as well as District Administration have been mute spectators, they alleged.

Addressing the gathering, Nagasadhu Vittala Giri Maharaj said, “We will assemble more naga sadhus in Mangaluru to fight for the existence of Karinja Temple. We are ready to preserve the temple at the cost of our lives, he warned
