Mangaluru: A 27-year-old married woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence at Kairangala near Mudipu on Friday, November 27.
The deceased is Shajida (27), wife of Azhar, a resident of Darkhas Compound, Kairangala.
Shajida got married to Azhar, a rickshaw-driver by profession, about three-and-a-half-years ago. The couple has two sons, two-and-a-half-year-old Mohammed Hafeez and one-and-a-half-year-old Anas. It is said that the couple had a troubled relationship from the beginning. It is also alleged that Azhar is a drug addict.
According to sources, Shajida on November 26, had gone to her mother’s house deciding that she would not be able to live with her husband. She had also reportedly told her mother to take care of her kids if something happens to her. However, her mother consoled her and sent her back. Shajida was found dead the next day. In a complaint registered with the Konaje police, Shajida’s mother has held Azhar responsible for the death.
While Shajida’s mother has alleged that she was murdered, the possibility of suicide cannot be ruled out. Based on the mother’s complaint, the police have taken Azhar into custody.
Investigation is underway.
