Kasargod: Former Rajya Sabha member Abdul Samad Samadani inaugurated “Tulunada Otthorme Janamaithri Sangama” as part of the five-day world Tulu fest “Tuluvere Ayano” here at Badiyadka on the last day.
Addressing the gathering on Tuesday, Samadani said, “Language is just a medium of communication and not restricted to any particular community. Hence we should work together in unity.”
Sarvotham Shetty presided over the function. Thinker Rahul Eshwar was the cheif guest on the occasion. Writer Stephen Quadras Permude, Mallika Rai Bengaluru, Ve Mu Shankaranarayana Bhat Pallathadka, Brahmashree Shri Kuntaru Raveesha Thantri, MLA N A Nellikunnu, former minister Cherkalam Abdulla, Muniraja Renjala, Kerala Tulu Academy President Subbaiah Rai, Badiyadka Gram Panchayath President N Krishna Bhat and many others were guests on the occasion.
Muniraja Renjala, Sairam Gopalkrishna Bhat, Metro Mohammed Haji and Mathew Kutti Vaidhyar were presented with Janamaithri Award on the occasion.
Vishwa Tuluvere Ayano Janamaithri Sangama President Mahin Kelot gave introductory speech. Tuluvere Ayano General Secretary Dr Rajesh Alwa welcomed and Ravi Naikapu compered.
The five-day Tulu fest Vishwa Tuluvere Aayano (World Tulu Speakers meet) 2016 in Badiadka, Kasaragod was organised on five different stages featuring a variety of Tulu culture, art, literature and sports programmes under the banner – Tulunaadina Daivaraadhane Ninne-Indu-Naale (Descent of Tulunaadu Past-Present-Future). Several cultural programmes were held in Kannada, Malayalam, Konkani, Marathi, Beary, Urdu, Kundagannada, Aregannada, Kodava, Havyaka and Mavali languages apart from Tulu.
