Sullia: ‘Clean Payaswini Movement’ a cleanliness drive to clean the Payaswini river was flagged off by the Yuva Brigade, on Sunday in Sullia.
The Yuva Brigade started cleaning the Payaswini river banks near Kanthamangala bridge. About 25 members of the brigade participated in the movement. They cleared loads of garbage mainly comprising of plastic commodities dumped in the river and on its sides.
The activists noticed that contaminated water was being released into the river, which was turning the river water black. They urged the town administration to stop the release of pollutants into the river. The entire river bank in this area was also polluted due to the polluted water flowing into the river.
