Udupi: In connection with the Anand Shetty robbery attempt case, the Principal Civil Judge (Senior Division) and Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday remanded Bannanje Raja to seven days police custody.
On Monday, Court of the Addl. Sr. Civil Judge Nagajyothi K.A remanded Bannanje Raja to judicial custody for a day at Hiryadka Jail. Under tight security Anand shetty probe officer, Girish Kumar produced Raja to the court on Tuesday.
The Assistant Public Prosecutor Shantibai requested the court to grant 14 days police custody as the investigation on Shetty case is pending. However, the court remanded 7 days. On September 16, he will be produced at the same court.
On September 26, 2013, Anand Shetty case was filed. As per the case, Bannanje Raja, Sameer and Siraj Hassan motivated other five, Mohammed Maqsood, Mohammed Haneef, Sachin Poojary, Shamsuddhin, Sayeed Buran to plan an attack on businessman Anand at Ashirwad road with weapons for denying payment of Hafta.
Udupi police arrested all five but they were released on bail later. An FIR was filed at the Udupi Police station. The court hearing is still going on in the session’s court.
Siraj and Sameer are still absconding.
