Udupi: Passing away of Lt. Col. Harjinder Singh in the chopper crash on Wednesday December 8, that also took life of Chief of Defence Staff of Indian Armed Forces Bipin Rawat, his wife and ten others, has left Karkala in a deep grief. Lt. Col. Singh was the son-in-law of late Felix Menezes and Mary Menezes of Salmara, Karkala of the District as he was married to Lt. Agnes Prafulla Menezes, daughter of Menezes couple.

Agnes had also served Indian Army for many years, and that is how they fell in love and married each other. His sister-in-law and Prafulla’s sister recollects that Lt. Col. Singh visited Karkala many a times and loved the place a lot.

Mary Menezes too spoke fondly about her son-in-law, and said that it is infact her daughter who has reacted to the shocking demise rather bravely despite her unexplainable grief. Prafulla’s sister said that it was very recently that Prafulla visited them. However, Singh had visited Karkala last four years ago.
