Udupi: Controversy brewed in the state yet again with a corruption scandal when the wife of social welfare minister H Anjaneya was seen accepting an amount of Rs 7 lakh from a reporter posing as a contractorin a sting operation carried out by a local news channel.
Speaking in response to the demands of enraged people and the opposition party to sack the minister, Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha member, has said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress High Command will take a decision on the sting-operation controversy surrounding Social Welfare Minister H. Anjaneya.
Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, Fernandes said that the Chief Minister would be looking into the matter and taking a decision.
A report on this matter had reached the party high command and it too would a take decision, he said.
On the Bihar Assembly results, he said that there was a change in the mood of people in the country when compared to that prevailing during the 2014 parliamentary elections.
The people had realised that the promises made to them by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the parliamentary elections were hollow. Mr. Modi had failed to check inflation, he said and added that the prices of pulses and onions had gone through the roof.
Tipu anniversary controversy
On the controversy over the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan, Fernandes said that Tipu Sultan had fought against the British.
During the reign of any ruler in history, there were both positives and negatives. But it was essential that the positives outshined the negatives, he said.
On why the State government was insistent on celebrating the birth anniversary on November 10 instead of November 20, Fernandes said that the date was not an important issue.
