Udupi: R.Ashok, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister said that Congress led State government has failed protect the farmers here, within a month, 150 farmers of the state committed suicide and government has done nothing.
While speaking at a ceremony held to felicitate the newly elected gram panchayath members of BJP and to register the new members to the party, he said that State led Congress administration is a big “ZERO”. 30 members of a single district committed suicide and the government is busy in conspiring.
In the centre, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is busy in highlighting one death of a farmer which happened in Rajastan and has nothing to say about the 150 deaths in Karnataka. He questioned as to why Rahul is not visiting Karnataka.
“Government’s every scheme proved to be a flop. Under Ashraya Yojana earlier each gram panchayath was allotted 100 houses and at present the number is reduced to 10. The 30 Kg rice under Annabhagya has reduce to 5 kg which is a quality less rice”, he said and also alleged that the government has kept pending the incentives offered to milk and subsidy amount offered to the sericulture framing since past seven months.
Poor people in all the districts have started cursing the Congress party. Congress is now trying to destabilize the Panchayath Raj system. GPs are exploited, Central government aids, which are given for the development of the panchayath are taken back in the name of electricity bill, government should be ashamed of this activity. Congress should understand that GP is the back bone of our system, development of the villages is the development of the country, he said.
