Udupi: Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, after inaugurating the Udupi hobli-level agricultural campaign organised by the zilla panchayat and the agriculture and allied departments, said that it is important to provide maximum provision to create awareness for the agricultural product and marketing facilities to the farmers.
Sorake said, in our nation 80% of the population depend on farming, though they are the most ignored groups in the society.  The situation should change and they should get the best of the technical and scientific support.

Workshops, training centres and even mela’s will help the farmers to know the product demand and also to fix price (Market knowledge). The right method to sell their products is essential, he said.

People in the district are dependent on agriculture, horticulture and dairy farming. The youth are not interested in farming. Even the Agricultural university scholars too choose white-collared jobs.

Though both the Union and State governments have launched several programmes it is not reaching the farmers. He urged officials to organise similar progmmes and include a maximum number of farmers in them.

Best farmers were felicitated on the occasion.
