Udupi: ‘Raitha Santwana Yatre- Baduku Besaya was inaugurated at Havanje village in Udupi district on Wednesday, August 5. As a part of this yatra, a special vehicle will visit all farmers in the villages here , in the next 20 days.
The yatra intended to explain or create awareness on government plans to resolve the problems faced by the farmers.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, on the occasion said that the State government prioritizes the needs of the farmer and makes every possible effort to facilitate them.

Sorake said that the State government had taken the suicides of farmers seriously and this yatra is a small effort from the government to give confidence to the farmers.

He added that government considers farming on priority basis and has introduced many schemes for the welfare of the farmers and they should not lose hope.

He advised farmers to take loan from cooperative societies with less interest rate than approaching money lenders. 1000 cases are already filed against the money lenders, who have harassed the farmers in the name of interest.

He said the Govenment also directed the Forest department officials to find a solution to the wild animal menace to prevent damage to their crop.
