Udupi: Udupi MLA and Government PU College Development Committee Chairman Raghupathi Bhat welcomed the verdict of the Karnataka High Court on banning the hijab in educational institutions.
“It is the Constitution’s victory. A few people had attempted to override the rules. They were given a befitting response. The law must be abided,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
He also said that six students who had approached the court over the hijab should follow the High Court’s order. “I urge them to attend class in uniform, forgetting everything, as they did in the past. Students should not be misled by statements made by religious external forces. We do not have any discrimination against you. We will make arrangements to give notes and hold classes for the missed classes,” he stated.
“It is the victory of the culture of India. Those who opposed the soil of the land have seen a setback,” read the Facebook post.
