KMDC chairperson bats for self employment for minorities

Udupi: SYM Masood Foujdar, Chairperson of KMDC, The Karnataka Minority Development Corporation said that, his priority is 70 % education and 30 % self employment for the minorities people.
While addressing a press meet, at the IB on Thursday, he added that corporation will be launching skill developmental programmes in October to promote employment for minority populace. “I am personally concentrating more on quality education to minority students and extending necessary financial help through scholarships” he added.

KMDC had a target of training 1,000 youths each in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts as the area had high concentration of minority communities. The students will be placed in insurance, retail, banking and other areas. 70 per cent of the youth would be provided placements, for rest self employment opportunity will be given.

KMDC cleared 4500 applications of minority students who had applied for engineering courses under the Common Entrance Test. further 500 applications will be cleared soon.

Student who get admission through Common Entrance Test (CET) will get their ranks for admission to professional courses, KMDC will sanction the loan and tuition fee will be paid to the college directly.
