Udupi: A 19-year-old construction worker was arrested by the Udupi police on charges of sexually harassing a five-year-old girl in Udupi taluk.
The arrested is identified as Prashanth Arer, hailing from Haveri. He was living here in a labourers’ colony. He has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
On December 8, around 9 pm, Prashanth allegedly enticed the girl living in the vicinity, took her to his room and sexually harassed her. The girl came crying home and narrated the incident to her parents. The girl’s parents are also said to be daily wage workers.
A case has been registered POCSO Act and IPC Section Section 376 (rape).
