Udupi: Can you imagine a male buffalo wildly running towards you out of nowhere? You would have a blood rush in your hearts and brains, for sure. This exactly was the situation with some, who were there to witness the cultural and ethnic sport of the coastal city, ‘Kambala’ (buffalo race) in Cherkady village.
As a part of the offering, a Kambala was organised in the Cherkady village during which one of the buffaloes lost its control and began running in a totally confused state. At this point in time, the spectators started running for their lives.
In the melee, the buffalo struck a person sitting at the announcement desk with its horns.
However, he had a narrow escape from death.
The people gathered said that as there are orders from the court not to beat the buffalo with a stick, as it amounts to harming the animal, the buffaloes do not come under the control of their master, due to which such incidents happen.
