Udupi: Student Democratic Party of India (SDPI) District Vice President Shahid Ali condemned the demolition of Zaara and Zaitoon hotels near Jamia Masjid here by Town Municipality.
The hotels are said to be built at Jamia Masjid premises and are run by SDPI District President Nazeer Ahmed and his brother. Recently in District Municipality meeting, 22 buildings were announced as illegal and thus ordered to be demolished. However, excluding this building, no action has been taken against the rest of the buildings. Another building, which also has two illegal floors, on the same road where the demolished restaurants are situated were allotted door numbers in a hurry.
Further, he reiterated that the demolition of thehotel building is a result of hate politics played by Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat, he added that SDPI condemn this, and also plans to take up a fight against this injustice.
