Udupi: Former union minister and Chikkaballapur MP Dr Veerappa Moily cleared the air surrounding the Yettinahole project saying that he wanted it to be executed for the benefit of the public and not for his personal gain.

Responding to the allegation made against him by senior Congressman Janardhan Poojary, Moily said that his intention had been misconstrued and iterated that the Yettinahole project was scientific. “The expert committee formed in this regard has given its report. Both the state as well as the central governments are convinced with it,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Poojary in a press meet had alleged that the Yettinahole project was being introduced only due to the vested interests of Veerappa Moily and former Karnataka CM DV Sadananda Gowda.

Speaking about the BJP’s humiliating defeat in Bihar, Moily said that it was Modi’s personal defeat. “He lost against democracy, secularism and Bihar,” Moily opined. He further stated that the people had learnt that they were being taken for a ride by the Prime Minister and that he has failed miserably to keep up the promises made.

Expressing his views on celebrating Tipu Jayanti, he said that the state government had taken the right decision to honour the freedom fighter and lashed out at the forums opposing it.
