Udupi: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje visited the Anjaru region, where a number of houses have been damaged by the winds and heavy rain, to disburse compensations to the affected families in the presence of the district Deputy Commissioner and other officials.
She assessed the situation in various parts of Kaup with officials and instructed them to take appropriate measures.
Meanwhile, the MP paid a visit to Benegal Hadibettu, Cherkady near Brahmavar where a woman named Ganga had died on Thursday. She was by the wall of her cowshed which collapsed on her while she was milking her cow.
She offered her condolences to the deceased’s family and gave them a compensation of Rs 4 lakhs.
She informed that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had declared a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs, out of which Rs 4 lakhs has been paid. The balance will be paid later, she added.
Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, MLA Lalaji Mendon, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, BJP district president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, ZP President Dinakar Babu, BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna and other elected BJP representatives were also present.
