Karkala: CID DYSP Chandrashekhar and his team has reportedly completed the questioning of Naxalite Veeramani alias Shankarappa Alias Vajramuni (57) who is accused in the case of the murder of Bhoja Shetty and Suresh Shetty of Hebri Nadpalu Sitanadi. The accused was taken into custody for two days and Karkala Court has now ordered to shift him back to Coimbatore prison.
Tamil Nadu police detained Veeramani in Coimbatore few months ago. He was brought to Karkala town for questioning, in connection with the murder case of Bhoja Shetty, a teacher and Suresh Shetty who was a farmer.
Manohar, Sanjeeva Kumar, Vasantha alias Ananda, Devendra alias Vishnu, BJ Krishna Murthy, Nanda Kumar, Nelaguli Padmnabha alias Harish, Chandrashekhar, Ramesh alias Shivakumar, Veeramani alias Ishwara alias Shankarappa alias Vajramuni, Asha alias Sudha alias Pallavi alias Pavithra and 10 other naxalites are also accused in the murder case.
The naxal group had shot and threatened Bhoja Shetty suspecting that he was working as a police informer. However, Bhoja Shetty threatened them with a weapon and managed to escape. However, the second attack by the naxals, turned out to be fatal for Bhoja Shetty.
A team led by Hebri police officer Sitharam and the Anti-Naxal Force has left for Coimbatore to shift the accused on Wednesday.
Pro-naxal slogan in Hospital
Veeramani was taken to a Taluk government hospital on Wednesday for medical checkup by the police. While leaving the hospital, he reportedly shouted slogans in support of Naxals in the presence of police officials, which surprised the public who were gathered outside. “Anti-Naxal Force must be taken back from Karavali Malenadu region, they should stop harrassing people residing inside forests”, was one of the slogans said by Veeramani.
Clarifying that he is a pure naxalite, he further shouted slogans in the tune of: “Let us condemn capitalism, long live naxalism, Inquilab Zindabad”
