Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj, District in-charge Minister, Minister for Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fisheries released the logo of Udupi Adventure Festival and Udupi Parba (festival) at Hotel White Lotus here on Friday, December 15.
Addressing a press meet after releasing the logo, Pramod Madhwaraj said that Udupi Adventure Festival will be organized by General Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure in association with Udupi district Administration, Department of Tourism, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Nirmiti Kendra and Malpe Beach Development Committee of the district.
Pramod Madhwaraj said that for the first time in Udupi district, the Udupi Adventure festival and Udupi Parba, aimed at promoting tourism in the district will be held for three days starting from December 29 to 31. Moreover, the General Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure will also organize various adventure sports such as national-level swimming in the sea, marathon, cycling, speed wall climbing, skateboarding.
For the first time in the history of Udupi district, First National Junior Open Water Swimming Championship will be held on December 30, 31 at Malpe Beach. The championship is being organized by the Udupi district administration in association with Karnataka Swimming Association and Swimming Federation of India. Winners of the competition will qualify for the World Junior Open Water Swimming Championship to be held in 2018.
Various entertainment programmes including a live show by popular drummer Sivamani will be held on December 29 at 8 pm at Malpe Beach. Other programmes include a magic Show by Prahlad Acharya, Alva’s cultural festival, Dog Show, photography contest, Musical night, Drawing and Cartoon contest, Wine festival, Scuba Diving Festival and so on.
Food stalls set up over here will be serving traditional coastal cuisine dishes during the Udupi Parba. An attractive fireworks display will be held on the concluding evening.
