Kaup: A youth who had gone to the fields to perform the “Tudar” ritual (showing the light of the festival) on Diwali, was allegedly bitten by a deadly snake and died in a hospital.
Rohit Kumar (26), a native of Kalya in Kaup, has been identified as the deceased.
According to the sources Rohit and his brothers had gone to the fields on the night of Thursday November 4 to perform the Balindra Puja when he was bitten by a deadly snake, according to sources. The family rushed him to a traditional healer for treatment.
He had shown signs of improvement following treatment, but on Friday morning he became extremely unwell and was taken to KMC Hospital in Manipal. According to the sources, he died without responding to medication.
A case has been registered in this regard at the Kaup Police Station.
