Udupi: Two youngsters died as they were washed away by the rough waves at Kodi Bengre beach on Thursday, October 22.

The deceased are identified as Pramod (20) and Praveen (23), residents of Chitrodi. They were employed at a renowned car showroom.

According to sources, the duo had been to the beach with two other friends after participating in Ayudha Puja rituals. As Pramod was caught in the waves, Praveen rushed to his rescue. But unfortunately, both were pulled in by the giant waves and lost their lives.

Kasaragod: In a heart wrenching incident, two children drowned in a pond at Thalangara here on Thursday, October 22.

The deceased are identified as Althaf (8) and his younger brother Atif (4), residents of Deralakatte.

It is said that the children, accompanied by their mother, had been to their grandmother’s house in Kasaragod, from where they paid a visit to Malik Deenar mosque.

While their mother and grandmother were at the mosque, the kids reportedly went to the pond nearby to play around in the water.

A few minutes later, the locals rushed to the pond, as they could hear the children screaming for help. Though the locals pulled them out of the water and rushed them to a hospital nearby, they could not be saved.

The Kasaragod town police have registered a case.
