Udupi: On Saturday November 20, Udupi District Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao visited and urged a seven-member-family living in Kajralli Colony in Saibarakatte in the Taluk to get vaccinated. The family had rejected all efforts of ASHA workers, doctors, and local people’s representatives made over time to convince them to get vaccinated.

They feared that vaccination will put their lives in danger. They also had a resentment towards the administration and fellow villagers for treating them with scornful attitude after one of their family members died in the initial stages after Covid – 19 began to spread.

The DC who visited Saibarakatte Primary Health Centre learned about this family and paid them a visit. Upon patiently listening to the family’s problems, the DC assured that the district administration will be there for them in case of any problems. He also said that their problems will be addressed in phases and requested them to relent relating to vaccination. Following this, the family decided to get vaccinated one by one.

According to the sources, when it was discovered that the family members had not received ration items for the previous three months, the Deputy Commissioner ordered that the family should be provided ration items as soon as possible.
