Udupi: Several organizations along with Heddari Jagruti Samiti will hold a district-wide bundh on Monday, February 13, protesting against the toll at Gundmi and Hejamady.
The members of Heddari Jagruti Samithi and other associations have demanded exemption for vehicles bearing Udupi registration (KA 20) at these toll booths.
The Samiti denuded that service roads, bus stands, toilets, drainage system, flyover and other facilities had to be constructed before starting toll collection.
The Samiti has clarified that it is not against toll collection, but is opposing only the haphazard way in which it is being done.
“Samiti is against the fact that the people are being made to pay the toll even before the completion of the National Highway works,” the Samiti members said.
