Udupi: Fire breaks out in Manchi, acacia tree and wood piles gutted

Udupi: A fire broke out in Rajivnagara of Manchi Reserve Forest area of 80 Badagabettu Village on the afternoon of Tuesday January 10. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.

The fire that engulfed the forest has spread widely to the entire surrounding environment. As a result, there was thick smoke in the surroundings for sometime. Ratna Acharya’s farm in Rajivnagar was gutted in the fire. Also a heap of wood piled up near a house and acacia trees in the forest were fitted too.

A small spark of fire, which first appeared in the forest, spread widely as the onlookers watched. The fire broke out in an area of two acres near 6th Cross Road in Rajivnagara. The locals immediately alerted the Fire Department. Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire averting a major disaster.
